The first time I was in Cat Ba Sunrise Resort, in a week to eat, rest and work, staff very enthusiastic and very happy.

Phuong Mr. - resort managemen, he welcomed me to good, we had meals together and discuss the work quite interesting. We hope to be back on here to relax next year..

After the chaos and noise of Hanoi, Sunrise Resort was an excellent top off to a very pleasant cruise on Halong Bay aboard the Pinta Gold (Columbus Cruises). Sunrise was like a diamond in the rough. Definitely built and maintained according to high Western standards, this hotel and beach resort was one of a kind on Cat Ba Island. If you're taking a junk cruise along Halong Bay and have the option of staying here, do so.

A night or two on the island is enough, but don't bother scrimping by staying at one of the hotels in Cat Ba town. If you can afford a bit of luxury this is the only place to stay. The food was great, and the hotel's beach is the only one in sight in Cat Ba. The swimming pool is an excellent backup. The restaurant served up some wonderful meals too.

A marvelous end to a wonderful cruise vacation around Halong Bay.

We stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed it,I had to move rooms as i'm afraid of heights and the 4th floor room was up a spiral outside staircase from the 3rd floor. the manager changed my room at once even though the hotel was almost full.
The views and the beach are super, there is a path to the left of the beach that takes you to the next bay, and you can also walk into Cat ba from there.
The food was excellent for evening meals, there was also a lot of choice for breakfast,
I would recommend this hotel to relax in.

We were in hotel on August, 16-20th, 2009 four together with the wife and two children. It was a part of travel Nha Trang (Vinpearl) - Cat Ba (Island Resort - look a response), (Cat Ba Sunrise Resort) - Ha Long cruises - Hanoi (Hanoi Elegance 4). The good hotel, corresponds to the category, unlike the same Island resort. Pure, with taste the issued numbers, daily free fruit and water, TV the truth without the Russian channels, two balconies with an amazing kind. Pure small, but cosy pool of variable depth with an islet, a children's playground. The territory is protected round the clock, pass on the plastic bracelets which are given out at settling. The beach too the general, but is cleaned constantly and is further from a city, i.e. in the evenings it is less than having a rest Vietnameses. The Buffet for a breakfast is not rich, but is sufficient, супчик Pho is present! Dinners-suppers tasty, us sufficed 30 USD on all four «for eyes» without alcohol (we do not use). The personnel sympathetic and kind.Very beautiful, green, rocky, pure island, part of archipelago Ha Long, good hotel for fans of a relaxation. It is necessary to mean: in a gulf and in a hotel bay the muddy and rather dirty sea, especially along that coast of island Cat Ba where the rivers run into a gulf!

3 days in the hustle and bustle of Hanoi, 3 days cruiseing Halong Bay and then wanting to relax on or near a beach. The Sunrise Resort on Cat Ba did just that and more. Room was great with a seaview and balcony. Pool was so relaxing and the odd dip in the sea was very pleasent. Inclusive breakfast was pretty spectacular.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights at the end of a one night stay on a junk in Halong Bay. The first night was in a lovely room with a beautiful view of the pool and beach. The second night we were moved, as were our friends, even though we booked our rooms in January, to a very substandard room view with no balcony and no view. Very disapponted. The cost stayed the same. The resort is beautiful the staff are very good but beware the beds are like slabs of concrete. The music by the pool needs to be toned down as well.

Lots of families with big budgets stay here because from what I gather it's the only game in town for families wishing to vacation on Cat Ba Island.

My wife and I visited for 2 days and our experience was much less than the price of our tiny room ($87!) would have indicated.
- Check-in took 30 minutes, check-out took 15 minutes, and staff barely helped us with our stuff
- The hotel is a 10-minute walk from town, and the hotel wanted to charge $5 to take us into town
- The shower didn't drain properly
- The rooms are tiny!
- Some of the bedding seemed dirty
- TV channels are almost exclusively limited to Vietnamese-language channels
- This website's availability functionality doesn't work for the Sunrise Resort, they had plenty of rooms available, but this website indicated no rooms available (probably better that way!)

...We live in Vietnam, and a hotel of this quality of service and facilities should be half the price. We'd wholeheartedly recommend it if we felt it delivered value for the price. But it doesn't, so unless for some reason you have children and you need to go to Cat Ba, we recommend you visit Cat Ba but stay away from this overpriced hotel.

I think this is definitely the best hotel in Cat Ba. The room was nice and most rooms have a great sea view (with the noise of the sea! very relaxing). But be careful of rooms on the ground floor: some are right next to the bar. The hotel was very clean and the pool is gorgeous. Also it is on its own private beach, away from the karaoke bars and seedy night clubs in Cat Ba (but if you want to go there, it's walking distance).
The only down side is I thought it was a bit noisy. We had a big gap under our door, so whenever anyone walked by we could hear everything they said. Plus the cleaning ladies made a lot of noise in the morning.
The food in the restaurant is great.
Even though it is quite a bit more expensive than the other hotels in Cat Ba, I think it is worth it.

We stayed at Sunrise Resort for - unfortunately - only one night (through a Halong Bay package deal organised through our hotel in Hanoi). Although our stay was short (arriving at 5pm on Wed, and leaving 7:30am Thurs), it was wonderful. Hotel is spectacular - with beautiful views, and completely private beach (with beachside bar). Dinner and breakfast were great, staff were attentive and helpful. Rooms were lovely - and the bed was enormous! And the hotel itself is beautiful - definately impressive upon arrival.
I would definately return independantly to Sunrise Resort and stay for quite a few days. Highly recommended!
